Tiny Shop Hammer
Hammers might be my favorite tools to make, mostly because they can be very customizable. I needed a small hammer for setting parts in the vise when the dead blow won’t fit, and for light assembly of finished parts. This hammer measures just under 8 inches long, with a 1 inch diameter head. It has Nupla quick change tips, hard and soft, but while they work great, I’m not happy with the price nor inconsistency of the moldings; so… I’ll be making the tips myself from now on from acetal, brass, rubber, and whatever else that meets the hardness requirements. This was also the first attempt at playing with reverse threading to have an alternative to knurling. I like it.
